Hail to the Chefs 2008 - Review


The 2008 Hail to the Chefs gala fundraiser was held on Saturday, May 31 at the beautiful Hudson Library & Historical Society. Over 200 attendees were treated to delicious food selections prepared by nine restaurants that also participate in Taste of Hudson. Julie Marie Galleries, also official photographer of Hail to the Chefs and Taste of Hudson, prepared this photo slide show.

  • Chefs from the Western Reserve School of Cooking prepared an unbelievable dessert selection

Hail to the Chefs was hosted by WKDD 98.1 FM morning personality Matt Patrick with entertainment by Jim Henning on the patio with the Dallas Coffee Jazz Trio providing background music during the dining portion of the evening.

The Cleveland Wine School presented wine tasting on the patio and also provided wines to complement the dining selections.

The second annual “Children at Heart” award was presented to Lisa Pardi, Safe Kids Coalition of Summit County Coordinator. Lisa was recognized by William Considine, President & CEO of Akron Children’s Hospital as also being responsible for the Summit County Safe Kids being named the top chapter- of 300- in the United States!

Thank you to all supporters of Hail to the Chefs including sponsors Windstream Communications, Akron Children’s Hospital, Laurel Lake Retirement Community with support from Allstate Insurance and First Energy. Special thanks to event business partners Printer’s Devil, Akhia Public Relations, Printing Concepts, Suncrest Gardens, Stems…a flower shop, Cleveland Wine School, WKDD 98.1 FM and Mimi Vanderhaven’s Fabulous Buys and Leslie Pollott and the entire staff at The Hudson Library & Historical Society. Special mention goes to the 27 different organizations that provided items for the evening’s silent auction.

Honorary Chairs included Bill & Becky Considine from Akron Children’s Hospital, Rusty Hopkins from Windstream Communications and Kathy Chadwick-Koke from Laurel Lake Retirement Community.

Hail to the Chefs organizing committee included Event Chair- Carrie Gynn, Taste of Hudson Executive Director Andy Malitz, Jim Hackney, Jan Gusich, Billie Henning, Lisa Pardi, Vicki Parisi, Lori Bird, Julie Kodatsky, Lynn Nelson, Sue Hutchinson and all .the volunteers from Akron Children’s Hospital and Hudson High School.
